Chateau Potensac 2017

The 2019 vintage of Château Potensac, a standout Médoc estate under the Delon family (also proprietors of Léoville-Las Cases and Nénin), delivers both grace and energy. The blend leans toward ripe, expressive fruit—approximately 47% Merlot, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot—harvested between 21 September and 9 October. Matured in small oak barrels (20% new) for 14–16 months, the wine is elegant, vibrant, and structurally refined.

On the nose, expect crushed-stone minerality alongside floral lift and vibrant berry aromas. The palate showcases vivid black and red fruit—think blackcurrant, cherry, raspberry—supported by refreshing acidity, polished tannins, and a distinct chalky minerality that carries through a long, precise finish. Critics have awarded it excellent scores, highlighting its concentrated yet elegant profile and suggesting a drinking window of 10–15 years. This is a refined Médoc with both immediate charm and impressive aging potential.
