Bowmore 15 year old 'Darkest' is Bowmore's most heavily sherried whisky. It is matured iniatially in ex-bourbon casks and some sherry casks, but finished for 3 years in ex-oloroso sherry casks. This whisky is as complex as they come, on the nose there is a hint of peat and saltiness, but it is dominated by leathery sherry notes, with rich fruit and tonnes of refined spice. The palate delivers a hefty punch of peat, followed by an array of dark fruits and spice. The finish is dominated by wood and fruit, extremely long and satisfying.
